Association of partners
on coordination and usage of
NORTHERN SEA ROUTE
Dear partners, observers and friends of Northern sea route association!
We have just completed the first part of the NSRA conference. A new important event is ahead - the second part of NSRA meeting on November 09, 2021.
Before this event, NSRA Yulia Zvorykina, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Arctic Herald magazine, Chairman of the SECEG SDWG of the Arctic Council, Doctor of Economics and I will be honored to conduct an interview with Ambassador Auni Tur Sigurdsson, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Iceland to Russia. As you know, Iceland chaired the Arctic Council until May 2021.
The editorial board of the journal "Arctic Herald" and NSRA will interview the Ambassador of Iceland. One of the most interesting, in my opinion, will be the question regarding the UN climate conference in Glasgow, which has just started its work in the Scottish capital. The Russian president recently announced that the average annual temperature in Russia is growing faster than the global one by more than 2.5 times. Over the past 10 years, it has increased by almost half a degree. "The speed of climate change the Arctic is even higher," Vladimir Putin said.
After the interview, NSRA will release a summary of the meeting on its website. No more than that.
The full version of the interview will be released at the end of November 2021 by the leading Russian Arctic magazine "Arctic Herald", NSRA partner .
But video film, I hope, after the meetings and interviews of the NSRA with the other Ambassadors of the Big Arctic 8 countries, the Ambassadors of the observer countries of the Arctic Council, will be used to create a film of the Association of the NSR for the 90th anniversary of the Northern Sea Route. We will show the film in the first week of December 2022. The NSR annivessary meeting will take place in the Hall of Columns of the House of Unions or another place in Moscow. We very much hope for the participation of the President of the Russian Federation, the President of the NSRA Chilingarov A.N., the relevant federal ministries of the Government of the Russian Federation, Rostatom State Corporation, regional authorities from Murmansk to Kamchatka, including 4 new territories of the Russian Arctic zone, association of indigenous peoples of the North of Russia. The NSRA Council firmly believes that only the participation of international business will make the development of the AZFR successful. Therefore, we are looking forward to have meeting with NSRA partners at this event: PJSC Sovcomflot, FSUE Atomflot, PONANT French cruise company, Japanese MOL, Norwegian Tschudi shipping, Finnish Arctia shipping, JSC Baltic factory, NRC Kurchatov Institute, PJSC MMC Norilskiy Nickel, Swedish Polar Center, High Marine school after admiral S.O. Makarov , eNetGroup Inc Canada. We believe that PJSC NOVATEK, LLC Gazprom Neft Shelf, the French company Total, PJSC Rosneft, PJSC LUKOIL, all partners, observers and friends of NSRA will join our meetings.
We invite new partners, all those who want to join NSRA, to work more actively and together with us, as an independent Arctic non-governmental structure, to achieve the implementation of the program for creating a sustainable transport system in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation.
Now we all have a special incentive - the chairmanship of the Russian Federation in the Arctic Council until May 2023 and the opportunity to make international projects in the Arctic successful. But not the big Arctic 8 countries ingagement in the crazy Arctic sanctions. "Ukraine is not the Arctic," the Executive Director of the Institute of the North (Anchrage, USA) said at the Arctic Forum on March 30, 2017 Nils Andreassen at the presentation of the highest American Arctic award named after Robert O. Anderson in my native Arkhangelsk. Such an award was handled by Mr Andreassen to Arthur Chilingarov, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for International Cooperation in the Arctic and Antarctic, President of NSRA. Even the most economically strong state will not be able to make successful development in the science, new technologies, infrastructure, energy, shipbuilding, and environmental projects in the isolation from the world Arctic community. And even more so to cope with climate change and climate change in the Arctic, which, both in the Russian Arctic and in Russia as a whole, is going at a critically accelerated pace.
We will be glad to welcome into our ranks new Russian and foreign partners who share NSRA's view on the development of the world Arctic, Antarctic and the NSR for the coming decades.
On behalf of the NSR Council,
Vladimir Kharlov, Vice-President of the NSRA,
member of the Working group on Socio-economic development of the Russian Arctic zone at the Senate of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation
