Home NewsOn the NSRA and its partner Smart Arctic LLC's participation in the Forum of Youth of Indigenous Ethnic Minorities of the North, Siberia and the Far East “Russian North”.

Development of all Arctic-related spheres has always been within the Association's scope of interest.

However it is impossible to maintain a comprehensive picture of the future development of the Arctic Zone of the Russian Federation in all areas without participating in Youth Forums.

Therefore the participation of the Association, its partner Smart Arctic and Dmitri Bachukin, Head, Marketing and Public Relations Department of the Smart Arctic, in the Forum of Youth of Indigenous Ethnic Minorities of the North, Siberia and the Far East “Russian North” was indeed quite fruitful and exiting.

The Forum was held in Moscow on December 10-16, 2020, and turned out to be a quite unusual event for us.

Delegates from all over the Russian Arctic arrived to the Forum eager to share their visions of the future of the Arctic Zone of the Russian Federation. We are confident that the 2035 State Policy Programme adopted by the Government of the Russian Federation will remain to be on paper only unless youth will be involved into its implementation.

Moreover we regretfully see continued out-migration; but young personnel retention all over the Russian Arctic may become a successful foundation for the Russian Arctic's demographic stability.

The NSR Association pays attention to the development of IT technologies and digitalization for a long time. It turns out that that these areas may be connected to the development of the public transport, public services and reindeer breeding.

Dmitrii Bachukin and the Smart Arctic  developed IT solutions for the reindeer breeding sphere and were glad to share their researchers' experience in studying the European market of reindeer meat with the Youth Forum's delegates.

Moreover they shared experience in the use of the state-of-the-art technologies for increasing the reindeers' livestock. Dmitrii Bachukin will graduate from the Prague University of Economics and Business in Prague next year and is looking forward to practically implement "The Export" - one of the Russian Federation's important national projects. His thesis research will be "Study of mechanisms for mutually-profitable trade between the Arctic Zone of the Russian Federation and the European Union countries".

It is great when young reindeer breeders, students, tutors, doctors and postgraduates seek opportunities for becoming involved into the team-building process within the Forum's framework.

The NSR Association would always be happy if our conferences and working meetings would become a mix of wisdom and youth.

 Vladimir Kharlov,

NSRA vice president.
